🔥This Week’s Sizzling Job Search Strategy: 26%

20-Minute Challenge: A LinkedIn Gender Insights Report shows that women are 26% less likely to ask for a referral than men. If you are in that 26% - let me be your hypegirl! If you struggle with this, reply to this email and I’ll send you Get Her Hired’s Informational Interview script that covers everything from how to ask for a meeting to what to say in your thank you note. Do it! Surprise the sugar out of yourself.

🤩This week’s “Girl, thanks for telling me!” Topic: You’re Too Good to be “Too Good”

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard: “they told me I’m too valuable in my current role”. UGH, seriously!!!? They might as well say: you’re a woman and we want to keep you where you are. Does your excellence in your current role hold you back from promotion? If this has happened to you or someone you love, have them try this: begin delegating more, report on results (not progress), and speak up on strategic topics. Be direct and clear on your goals. And if all else fails, look for a new role where your ideas are valued, not just your stack of completed work.

🤓 This Week’s Data-Diva Tip:  80/20

The Pareto Principle, also known as the 80/20 Rule, can transform your job search. Named after Italian economist Vilfredo Pareto, who discovered that 80% of Italy's land was owned by 20% of the population, this principle shows that a small portion of efforts leads to the majority of results. Here's how to apply it:

NETWORK: Focus on High-Impact Activities. Spend more quality time on networking. Reach out to contacts, attend industry events, and engage on LinkedIn. Networking often yields the highest results.

FOCUS: Target Key Employers and Industries. Identify and prioritize companies and industries that align with your career goals and values. Concentrate your efforts on these targets rather than applying broadly.

💪 This Week’s Skill to Build: Consumer Behavior

Consumer behavior studies how people decide what to buy, use, and discard, revealing the motivations and influences behind these choices. This understanding is crucial for businesses, offering valuable insights into customers' needs and preferences. Why is this important? Predicting customer desires before they know them transforms your product development, marketing, and strategy. By understanding consumer behavior you can design products that meet real needs and deliver exceptional customer experiences. Not sure how to do it? Take a quick crash course!
