No college?  No problem.

Are you a smart, experienced, talented job-seeker without a college degree?  You’re not alone. For one reason or another, not everyone gets a degree (fun fact - I don’t have a high-school diploma).  So many well-qualified, capable people don’t apply for jobs because they have experienced rejection in this area.  What I say to this: Tits Up, queens! Own it and STOP applying to companies that require 4-year degrees.  Major corporations like Google, Apple, and IBM have publicly stated that they no longer require a college degree for many positions. They focus more on what candidates can do rather than where they learned to do it. Adjust your resume/cv to focus on your skills and RESULTS!  Then leverage your network to get interviews and introductions at organizations that value what you can bring and want you there, regardless of your GPA. So many of my clients tell me that they don’t have data on their impact. My first question: what was it like before you started “x” project, and what was life like after you finished “x” project? Personally, I love a good before and after makeover, be it a hairstyle, a living room, or a garden!  What’s so delightful about them?  We get to see a mess transform into a thing of beauty and effectiveness.  There are clear points of comparison from before to after.  These comparisons are data points you can use! For example: Before we started, we had 5 different processes that were implemented with varying degrees of effectiveness, 7 people were involved in decision making, and it took us 2 weeks to get approval.  After the project, we had a singular clear process, defined 2 roles for decision making and reduced approval time by 12 days. This is MONEY, queens!  Find that data and give your resume a makeover today!
