🔥This Week’s Job Search Strategy: Prioritize Opportunities Over Titles
Here's a 20-minute task for you: stop fixating on finding the "perfect" job title. While titles like Director of Strategy or VP of Operations may sound impressive, your ideal role might come with an unexpected title.
Truth Bomb#1: You define the job, not the title. Companies often use different titles, and the best fit for you might be called something unique like Innovation Catalyst or Customer Success Champion.
Dedicate 20 minutes today to rethink your job search approach. Head to LinkedIn and use keywords like "strategy," "growth," or "creativity" to explore opportunities. Focus on the job descriptions—do they capture your interest? Concentrate on the responsibilities and the potential to make an impact, rather than just the title.
Truth Bomb#2: Once you secure an interview, you can discuss the title later. The priority is finding a role that excites you and aligns with your goals.
Give this a try now, and see where it leads. Your next career opportunity might be just a keyword search away.
🤩This week’s “Girl, thanks for telling me!” Topic: You are not alone.
Career struggles don’t discriminate, not even for top performers. In conversations with 5 accomplished, high-achieving women and men in 24 hours, all from completely different industries, company sizes, and regions, the same pain points emerged. Yes, even the best and brightest are hitting these roadblocks. Here are the 5 career challenges we heard, loud and clear:
1. “I feel invisible at work.” Despite their accomplishments, all 3 felt under-recognized in their current roles. Their contributions weren’t being celebrated, and it was starting to take a toll on their motivation.
2. “My company keeps changing, and I don’t know where I fit.” Organizational shifts, restructuring, and new leadership have created uncertainty. They were left wondering, “What’s next for me here?”
3. “I’m stuck in the weeds.” Each wanted to transition from tactical, day-to-day tasks to strategic roles where they could think big and lead with impact, but felt trapped by their current responsibilities.
4. “I’m ready for the next step, but I’m not sure how to get there.” They all knew they had the skills and experience to level up, but positioning themselves for the next opportunity felt overwhelming and unclear.
5. “I need tools and a plan.” They were all looking for guidance: better resumes, stronger LinkedIn profiles, and strategies to confidently pursue the roles they know they’re ready for.
Sound familiar? If these challenges reflect your own experience, let’s talk. Start 2025 with a clear plan to make your next career move happen. Book a free consultation today and let’s make this your year of career breakthroughs.
💪 This Week’s Skill to Build: Developing Influence and Leadership
Forget the corner office. Forget the fancy title. Forget waiting for someone to “officially” put you in charge. Leadership isn’t granted—it’s claimed. Real leadership isn’t about commanding a room. It’s about making the people in that room feel seen and inspired. It’s trust over ego, action over authority, and creating alignment instead of control. The best leaders light a fire IN others, not under them. Here’s another truth-bomb: Leadership is a skill you build, not a role you’re handed. It’s about showing up with empathy, clarity, and the guts to say, “This is how I can help us move forward.” It’s offering ideas that shift perspectives, taking initiative when no one else will, and creating space for others to shine. You don’t need anyone’s permission to lead. Need some help getting started? Check out these resources.

❤️ Introducing the Get Her Hired Team
Our team is growing, and we can’t wait to introduce you to the amazing people behind the scenes at Get Her Hired. First up is Ann Marie Schofield, who joined us as an Executive Assistant in late 2023 and has recently been promoted to Chief of Staff!
What makes Ann Marie so special?
She can solve any problem. Seriously, throw a challenge her way, and she’ll meet it with a deep breath, a wise perspective, and a brilliant solution.
She’s a genius of creativity, always delivering awesome ideas that move us forward.
Her customer service is unmatched—she brings so much care and attention to everything she does.
When she’s not solving problems with us, Ann Marie is helping people relax and recharge as a skilled massage therapist, bringing calm and care to clients all across Orange County (follow her on insta)
And she’s also super cool: Ann Marie braved the -10°F chill to meet me in person in St. Paul, MN last January! I even got her to walk on one of our 10,000 frozen lakes. (Don’t worry, I invited her back in July for a much sunnier kayaking adventure.)
Ann Marie has been an integral part of our team, and her promotion to Chief of Staff is so well-deserved. We’re lucky to have her leading with such calm, creativity, and care. Here’s a beautiful pic of us when we met up in San Diego for my 50th birthday beach bonfire this past November.

Beach-hair, don’t care!
Stay tuned as we introduce more of our amazing team in the weeks ahead!
