Zero Percent. That’s How Many Got Hired This Way.

If Job Boards Don’t Work, What Does? Join me 3/17 to find out!

We just ran a poll asking executive job seekers what’s actually working in their job search. The results?

Zero percent said job board applications are effective.

Yet, time and time again, I hear from clients who are sinking hours into cold applications. One recent intake form stood out:

"I browse LinkedIn daily but have applied for very few jobs. When I do, I spend about eight hours on research and a submission."

Eight hours. For one role.

That’s like spending an entire day getting ready for a date—hair, makeup, outfit, everything—when you already know there’s a 95 percent chance you’re getting stood up. And then doing it again. And again.

The 2025 job market isn’t broken. The way we’ve been taught to job search is.

Here’s what actually works, straight from the executives who are landing roles:

1. Pick 10 Dream Companies

  • Research their challenges

  • Follow their leaders

  • Add value to their conversations

2. Build Relationships Before You Need Them

  • Share industry insights

  • Comment thoughtfully

  • Make yourself memorable

3. Solve Problems They Don’t Know They Have

  • Write solution-oriented posts

  • Share case studies

  • Show them why they need you

The bottom line: Job boards show you what’s available. Networks show you what’s possible.

Stop wasting time on job applications that go nowhere. It’s time to take real action.
